How many of you have already broken one of your New Year’s Resolutions?

How many of you have already broken all of your New Year’s Resolutions?

(How many of you have the good sense not to make New Year’s Resolutions?)

I don’t have any New Year’s Resolutions per se, but I have a few goals for 2013.  (Finish the diss.  Graduate. Enjoy not being a student anymore.)

Do you have any goals, resolutions, etc.?

  • My mother used to say she wasn’t making new year resolutions but “setting goals.” And I thought, “What’s the difference?” I guess it depends on the goals. Or the resolutions, as the case may be. I think that this year I want to start playing the piano again. I’ve been thinking that for a couple years now. But this year I might be serious. Because a few weeks ago I played for the first time in, wow, months, and I was so rusty it depressed me. So I should start playing regularly, or never again. I don’t like to be depressed.

  • I resolved to floss and to get back on my daily excercise routine. So far, so good.

Most of my sisters say they don’t make resolutions, but wait to give stuff up for lent. The difference being lent has an end, whereas resolutions are supposed to be forever.

  • I have the same goal, especially the part about enjoying not being a student anymore. I’ve even started a Word document of all the fun things I get to do when I’m finished with this blasted, um, brilliant, dissertation.
